Ren se přestěhuje do malého městečka, kde ke své hrůze zjišťuje, že tamní reverend zakázal hlasitou hudbu a tanec. Jenže vše se brzy změní – Ren se totiž rozhodne proti tomuto zákazu bojovat. A navíc se zamiluje do reverendovy dcery Ariel… Ren MacCormack se přestěhoval z Bostonu do malého jižanského městečka Bomont, kde prožívá obrovský kulturní šok. Před několika lety místní komunitou otřásla tragická nehoda, během které zemřelo pět mladistvých, kteří si užívali večírek. Bomontský radní a oblíbený reverend Shaw Moore na tuto událost reagoval zavedením nařízení, které zakazuje hlasitou hudbu a tanec. Ren se rozhodne tento zákaz zpochybnit, čímž znovu dodá do města život. Během své mise se zamiluje do reverendovy dcery Ariel…
